Technology and Specialist Classes

During Year 7 and Year 8 all students are taught Technology on a rotation cycle with specialist teachers ensuring learning experiences are provided in a wide range of technological areas.  In recent years we introduced robotics and programming to school which is an exciting addition to our Digital Technology programme.

Our Technology Block has recently been refurbished and now includes a purpose-built Science Lab.  In 2024 we employed a specialist Science Teacher.  Our school also has a Media Centre complete with recording studio and radio station.  Students are able to design and produce individual solutions to problems and develop a high level of practical skills.

Learning opportunities are provided in Food Technology, Hard Materials Technology, Art, Music, Science, Media, Fabric and Te Reo.  Extension classes are also available to students with a particular interest.

Students are able to learn a musical instrument through our after-school music tuition programme and they can join our school band, rock bands, ukulele band or school choir.  Music theory is also taught for interested students.  Students also have the opportunity to be part of our school production which takes place every second year, and is a major focus in Term Two.
